‚Fortnite‘ slips into Apple devices again

iPhone and iPad owners can play ‚Fortnite‘ again, about a year and a half after Apple removed the popular game from its gaming store. While Apple is not going back on that decision, there is now a loophole.

Technology company Nvidia is allowing ‚Fortnite‘ to be streamed on GeForce NOW, the company's cloud service. On iPhones and iPad, this is done via Safari web browser, on Android devices via the GeForce NOW app. This is a temporary beta test: „It will help test our server capacity, graphics delivery and the performance of the new touch control,“ Nvidia reports. „Members will be admitted to the beta in stages over the next few weeks.“

Nvidia also let it be known that it was working with ‚Fortnite‘ maker Epic Games on a touch-friendly version of the multiplayer shooter. „While PC games in the GeForce NOW library are best experienced on mobile with a gamepad, the introduction of touch controls (…) provides more options for players, starting with ‚Fortnite‘.“ The company hopes to stream full PC versions of games to mobile devices with built-in touch controls.
