How to Get Kicks
Epic Games has introduced a new way for Fortnite players to express their style with the addition of Kicks. This latest cosmetic feature allows players to enhance their in-game appearance with unique designs crafted by Epic Games, as well as collaborations with renowned brands such as Nike. Despite initial delays, Kicks were officially released in the v32.11 update on November 21, bringing a fresh layer of customization to the game.
Not every outfit in Fortnite supports these new cosmetic shoes at the moment, but the integration opens up new opportunities for fashion-forward gameplay. As players explore this feature, they can look forward to upcoming releases of new styles in the shop, and also learn how to effectively incorporate Kicks into their digital wardrobe.
What are Kicks in Fortnite?
Kicks in Fortnite are a category of cosmetic items focused on footwear. They offer players the ability to modify their character's shoes or conceal bare feet. At launch, over 500 popular outfits in the game are compatible with these shoes. By Spring 2025, this compatibility is expected to extend to more than 95% of all outfits. Players can explore how these footwear items appear within the game, aided by content from YouTube creators like HypeX.
Acquiring Footwear in Fortnite
In Fortnite, players can obtain Kicks, a unique type of cosmetic item, primarily through the Battle Pass and the Item Shop. When engaging with the Battle Pass, players must reach specific tiers or complete designated challenges to unlock these items. Alternatively, they can directly purchase Kicks from the Item Shop using V-Bucks, Fortnite's in-game currency.
Kicks may also be acquired through special events and tasks that Fortnite hosts or by subscribing to Fortnite's Crew Membership, offering additional exclusive content. An example of a notable pair available was the “Air Jordan 1 High OG Black Toe Reimagined,” launched during the Fortnite Remix season on November 14, 2024.
The release of Kicks occurs in periodic drops, presenting groups of shoes for a limited time. Before acquiring any footwear, players should utilize the Kicks Usability option on the product page. This feature allows players to confirm which character skins can be paired with the selected Kicks, ensuring compatibility within their in-game wardrobe.

But, how do you equip Kicks in Fortnite?
To add Kicks to a character in Fortnite, players should first navigate to the Locker within the main menu. From there, they need to select the Character tab. The next step involves clicking on the shoe symbol, which reveals the available Kicks.
Currently, it is important to note that not all characters are suited for Kicks. Epic Games frequently updates which skins are compatible, so it's useful to check for updates if your preferred character isn't available yet. Their official support page provides the latest list of compatible outfits.
For in-game outfit management, players can apply the “Sort Filter” to their roster by choosing the „Kicks Usable“ option. This filter helps players easily find skins that can be paired with Kicks.
When a Kick is equipped alongside an outfit, a message saying “Hidden when equipped with Outfit” might occur. This indicates that the particular outfit doesn’t currently support Kicks.
Even though Kicks aren't universally supported across all outfits, Epic Games maintains a comprehensive list of what is compatible. Checking this list is crucial for players who want to make sure their outfit choices can accommodate Kicks.
