Epic Games continues to expand Fortnite’s seasonal celebrations with the return of its annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares 2025. This year’s update introduces the new Pyg the Butcher skin and several free cosmetic rewards, offering players more ways to customize their experience. The event takes place during Chapter 6 Season 4, which has already featured major collaborations across gaming and entertainment.
Throughout October, players can expect a range of Halloween-themed crossovers featuring familiar faces from popular franchises. Characters from Scooby-Doo, Friday the 13th, and Scream join the lineup, alongside a special appearance from Doja Cat, who features both as a skin and as an in-game boss. These additions continue Fortnite’s tradition of blending pop culture with gameplay to keep its seasonal events fresh and engaging.
Fortnite Players Can Earn the Free Pyg the Butcher Skin
After installing the newest update, players will notice a notification introducing the Fortnitemares 2025 event. Epic Games confirmed that this event allows participants to unlock the Pyg the Butcher outfit at no cost. The skin’s design combines a pig’s head with a human body, dressed in a stained apron, black gloves, and chains that cross the torso. A string of sausages slung across the chest adds to the eerie butcher theme.
The event begins at 9 AM on October 9 and runs until November 1, giving players several weeks to complete the necessary tasks. To unlock the full reward set, including the Butcher’s Knife Pickaxe, back bling, and an emote, players must raise their account level through normal gameplay. Reports indicate that earning around 15 account levels is enough to claim every cosmetic.
Players can increase account levels in any of Fortnite’s modes. Whether they prefer Battle Royale, Zero Build, or Creative, all progress contributes to event rewards. Completing special Fortnitemares quests also grants bonus XP, helping players reach the required level faster. This flexible approach lets fans enjoy the event at their own pace while still earning exclusive cosmetics.
