The Fortnite Icon Series, introduced in 2019, has been a prominent collection of in-game skins featuring iconic celebrities from various fields. These skins showcase musicians, athletes, and online personalities, turning them into digital avatars within the game.
In February 2019, the series kicked off with American DJ Marshmello. This was followed by Major Lazer in August 2019 and popular streamer Ninja in January 2020. Musician Travis Scott and his alter-ego Astro Jack made their appearance in April 2020, while streamer Loserfruit joined in June 2020.
The end of 2020 saw more inclusions: Lachlan in November and TheGrefg in January 2021. By the middle of 2021, the series had added stars like footballer Neymar Jr. in April, football icons Harry Kane and Marco Reus both in June, NBA star LeBron James in July, and gamer Bugha in the same month. Pop sensation Ariana Grande made her entry in August 2021 along with reggaeton singer J Balvin.
2022 saw a varied mix, beginning with Marshmello-inspired characters Marsha and MARSHINOBI in February and musicians Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak soon after. Prominent names such as Naomi Osaka in March, Chloe Kim in the same month, and YouTuber Ali-A in May were also added. The year ended with football star Patrick Mahomes in August, SypherPK in September, and basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo in December.
2023 introduced more notable figures like The Kid LAROI in January, Brazilian creator Flakes Power in February, and comedian Khaby Lame in August. Musicians like Lewis Hamilton and Eminem in November and The Weeknd in December enriched the series further.
Additional diverse entries include Lady Gaga, who brought two unique skins in February 2024, and dynamic characters based on Billie Eilish in April. By mid-2024, the series welcomed members of the band Metallica, such as Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Robert Trujillo, all joining in June. Most recently, on June 15, 2024, YouTube star Nick Eh 30 was added to the collection.
