Dragons Dogma 2: How to Delete Your Save File

Embarking on a new adventure in Dragon's Dogma 2 can be thrilling, but players may find themselves wanting to start over with a different character design. Sometimes, a character that seemed like a good idea during creation doesn't turn out as expected, leading to the desire for a redo.

Resetting the slate in Dragon's Dogma 2 isn't as straightforward as one might hope. The process of deleting a saved game can pose its own set of challenges, potentially leaving players stuck with a character that doesn't align with their vision for the journey ahead.

Reasons for Save File Deletion

Players may choose to erase their Dragon’s Dogma 2 save data for various reasons. A common scenario is making an irreversible choice early on that negatively impacts gameplay, leading to a desire to restart the game. Alternatively, after initially planning to return the game after a brief trial on Steam, one might decide to keep it and prefer to begin again with a clean slate. There is a process to follow for those looking to start anew.

Removing Save Data in Dragon's Dogma 2

Initiating a New Adventure

In Dragon's Dogma 2, players have the opportunity to create a new character by simply beginning a new game, which will overwrite the existing one. This is due to the game's design, which allows only a single save slot per player.

Unalterable Microtransactions

Unfortunately, once a character has made certain progress or purchases within Dragon's Dogma 2, these changes become permanent. This means that deleting the save will not reverse microtransactions or character edits, as this information is retained on the game's servers.

Erasing Local Saves on PC

For PC users, save files can be managed directly:

  • Navigate to the Steam user data directory, typically found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata.
  • Identify and open the folder named after your Steam ID.
  • Locate the folder by the name „2054970“ and access it.
  • Within, find and delete the „win64_save“ directory.

Clearing Steam Cloud Storage

To manage saves stored in the cloud:

  • Visit the Steam Cloud page.
  • Sign in with your account details.
  • Find and select Dragon's Dogma 2 among your games.
  • Review your cloud-stored saves.
  • Choose and delete the ones you intend to remove.

Console Save Management

For console players, the steps vary slightly depending on the system:

Xbox:

  • From the dashboard, go to „My Games and Apps“.
  • Select Dragon's Dogma 2 and press the menu button.
  • Navigate to „Manage game“ and select.
  • Access the „Saved data“ section.
  • Select the desired save data to delete.

PlayStation 5:

  • Using the home screen settings cog, enter „Saved Data“.
  • Opt for „Upload or Delete from Console Storage“.
  • Choose Dragon's Dogma 2.
  • Proceed to delete the relevant save files.

With these steps, players can freely start over in Dragon's Dogma 2 as desired.
