CS:GO: Virtus.pro dominates Fnatic and wins cs_summit 7

Several months after the sixth edition divided into two continents, the cs_summit was back with a single 12-team tournament. At the end of an impressive week of competition, Virtus.pro won the final against Fnatic.

The cs_summit was back from January 25 to 31 for its first edition since July 2020. Some of the best teams in the world in 2020 included Fnatic, FaZe Clan, Heroic and FURIA Esports. However it is not any of these teams that won the competition but Virtus.pro that completely rolled on this cs_summit.

The Russian structure simply didn't lose a single heat during the whole week of competition. However, Virtus.pro had a strong group with FURIA, Cloud9 and Ninjas In Pyjamas. By defeating NiP and FURIA consecutively, the team qualified for the playoffs where they faced NiP again.

As in the group phase, Virtus.pro easily beat NiP before returning to mousesports in the semi-finals. The match was a real carnage as the Russian team lost only 11 rounds in two games and reached the final where they faced Fnatic who lost only one set in the tournament. This confrontation between the two most dominant teams of the competition also turned short in favor of Virtus.pro. Jame and her teammates dominated 2/0 Fnatic to win the competition.

Virtus.pro has been performing very well in recent months with three consecutive wins, Flashpoint Season 2, the DreamHack Open December 2020 and thus the cs_summit 7. It seems to be a team to watch and may well perform very well this year. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to play the spoilsport in the upcoming IEM XV: World Championship.
