If you have been exploring the war-torn world of Pywel, the latest May 2026 update for Crimson Desert brings meaningful changes to your journey. Pearl Abyss has released Patch 1.06.00, adding the long-requested Extraction system along with new special mounts, combat tweaks, and broad quality-of-life improvements.
You can now recover a portion of materials used in gear refinement, experiment with newly tameable mounts, and test added combat and mini-game features. These updates build on the game’s steady post-launch support, which has helped strengthen player reception and maintain strong engagement since release.
Crimson Desert 1.06.00 Update Patch Notes
Update 1.06.00 expands mounts, adds material extraction, introduces new combat options, and improves systems across gameplay, UI, and performance. You gain more control over progression, customization, and quality-of-life features throughout the world.
New Special Mount System
You can now register certain wildlife as Special Mounts after building trust. Available species include:
- Bears
- Boars
- Wolves
- Deer
- Mountain Goats
- Kuku Birds
- Iguanas
- Raptors
- Camels
- Lions
- Tigers
You tame aggressive animals by subduing them and feeding them. Some species require specific taming methods. Feeding animals that cannot be tamed does not raise their trust.
You can feed your mount while riding it. Select food in your inventory and choose Feed.
The inventory now includes a dedicated Special Mounts tab. The mount quickslot limits you to assigning one regular mount and one special mount at a time.
Saddles no longer appear automatically on special mounts. You must equip them manually. Purchase saddles at city saddleries:
| Saddlery | Available Saddles |
|---|---|
| Hernand | Wolves, Bears |
| Equinsher | Deer, Wolves |
| Calphade | Bears, Kuku Birds |
| Demeniss | Kuku Birds, Deer |
| Pailune | Bears, Ibexes |
| Delesyia | Warthogs |
| Tommaso | Iguanas |
| Varnia | Camels |
You equip mount gear directly from the Special Mounts tab.
Equipment Material Extraction
Smithies across multiple regions now offer an Extraction service. This feature lets you recover materials used to enhance gear.
You can revert equipment to any earlier refinement stage, including its original base level. Extraction reduces only the refinement level. It does not destroy the item.
Example:
| Scenario | Result |
|---|---|
| Base refinement level 4 enhanced to level 10 | Extract back to level 4 and recover materials used from 4 to 10 |
Recovered materials vary by type:
- Artifacts and Aeserion’s Scale: 100% returned
- Common materials (iron ore, copper ore, bloodstones): About 70% returned
This system allows you to reallocate resources without losing the equipment itself.
New Unarmed Combat Skills
Oongka gains new unarmed combat abilities. Open the Skills menu and select Fists to view them.
You also see improvements to unarmed stance and movement animations. Chain attacks following Roundhouse Kick now connect more smoothly.
You can use Blinding Flash even when no weapon is equipped.
Damiane’s unarmed skills will arrive in a future update.
Sheaths and Visual Customization
Swords now include sheaths. You control their visibility using the Display Sheath option.
This setting lets you choose whether your character’s sheath appears during exploration and combat.
Sigil of Valor and New Rewards
The Sigil of Valor item allows pet dogs to attack enemies when equipped. Purchase it from the Secret Shop NPC in Pororin.
The Laughing Marionette now features a claw machine. Possible rewards include:
- 12 lighting items
- 1 chair
- 1 special headgear item
- Abyss Artifacts
- Abyss Gear
Equipment and Content Enhancements
Certain equipment, including Visiones, now supports enhancement. These items also gain sockets for Abyss Gear.
Socket counts match the standard number for each equipment type. Some gear, including Kuku equipment, may have fewer sockets than other items of the same category.
Elemental resistance values for specific cloaks have been adjusted to better align with their intended traits.
Refinement using identical equipment now works only up to the level immediately before an Abyss Artifact becomes required.
Some furniture and ornament items now stack in your inventory.
Kliff can wear select Oongka outfits. Oongka also receives the Greymane Cloth Cloak.
You can now obtain previously inaccessible faction knowledge through newly added methods.
Quest and Gameplay Fixes
Several issues affecting progression have been corrected:
- Certain comrade missions now restart automatically as intended.
- Pets can now be summoned in situations where this previously failed.
- “Sweet Taste of Bounties” progresses correctly regardless of completion order.
- Sotdae of Bond no longer disappears from Recoverable Items and has been reissued.
- The Iron Eagle can now be tamed even if the first attempt fails.

- Base attack power adjusted
- Additional effects added when firing
Targeting improvements make it easier to aim ranged weapons at small animals.
Certain bosses no longer take unintended excessive damage from heavy object attacks.
An issue that prevented arrows from firing after loading a save, even when present in inventory, has been fixed.
Control Improvements
House decoration now allows easier placement of objects on bookshelves.
If you fail to fully turn a large valve, a new animation plays to reflect the action.
You can climb through windows from either side while hanging on a wall.
When you follow an NPC for an extended period, the camera now aligns automatically with your movement direction.
Interface Updates
Input prompts now display correctly regardless of your chosen control method.
The Character Customization and Dye menus now show your current currency totals.
The Skills menu includes a search function, allowing you to locate specific abilities quickly.
Fishing now displays its related guide while you wait.

Graphics and System Enhancements
A new Night Tone Mode option changes visual tone:
- Enabled: Softer overall colors, slightly brighter dark areas
- Disabled: Sharper colors, darker shaded regions
Mac-specific updates include improved HDR detection per display. Supported external monitors now enable HDR correctly, while unsupported displays do not.
GPU crashes that occurred occasionally during gameplay on Mac systems have been addressed.
Additional fixes include:
- Rendering correction at 5120 × 2160 resolution
- Resolved color inversion in Photo Mode under certain conditions
- Improved HDR quality
- Fixed conflict where enabling HDR disabled Direct-to-Play
- Corrected Adaptive Triggers settings not applying properly
- Prevented crashes when changing HDR or Frame Generation settings during gameplay
These changes refine visual stability and hardware compatibility across supported platforms.
