Fight Cheating Lobby Scraping

Call of Duty developers have implemented new measures in Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 to combat the issue of cheating, specifically targeting lobby scraping apps. These updates are designed to identify and remove cheaters before matches begin, and have generally been well-received by players, although there continue to be some concerns about persistent shadowban issues.

Cheating in Call of Duty saw a spike following the release of Modern Warfare 3 on Xbox Game Pass, attributed to flaws in the Microsoft Store's identification system. This allowed cheaters on PC to appear with an Xbox logo in multiplayer lobbies, making it difficult to detect them. In response, enhancements to the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system were rolled out, resulting in the banning of over 65,000 accounts and a cleanup of the Ranked Play leaderboards. The developers have continued to enforce strict measures against tampering with game memory and the use of unauthorized apps, affirming their commitment to ensuring a fair gaming experience.

Player Reactions to New Call of Duty Measures for Addressing Cheating

Following the recent purge of thousands of cheaters from Call of Duty, the player community has shown a variety of reactions to the latest update. Many gamers have given positive feedback, reflecting their satisfaction with comments like „W update“ and „W.“ These responses illustrate a general approval of the new anti-cheat measures introduced by the developers.

However, concerns remain regarding shadowbanning issues. A notable number of players have criticized the system for unjustly penalizing honest players, mentioning problems such as getting stuck in an indefinite shadowban loop. This has led to numerous requests for the developers to address these persistent issues and improve the fairness of the game.

Despite the continuous effort to curtail cheating, the cheating problem persists as cheaters frequently find new ways to bypass security measures. This highlights the importance of developing more robust solutions to keep the gaming environment fair. Activision's latest efforts to ban two major cheat providers mark a significant step in this direction.
