Treyarch Studios confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will receive important updates to its Battle Pass system when Season 1 launches on December 4, 2025. The developer aims to make leveling faster and reduce the time players spend completing reward tiers. Early sections of the pass now include fewer levels, helping players unlock high-value items more quickly than before.

The studio introduced several other refinements based on player feedback. One notable change adds Battle Pass Tokens as part of Call of Duty’s Daily Challenge rewards. Players can now complete challenges in both the Co-Op Campaign and Endgame modes to earn tokens periodically. Once unlocked, tokens activate instantly and can be used right away to claim rewards.

To make information easier to view, the key adjustments are summarized below:

Feature Previous System New System in Season 1
Tier Count 100 fixed tiers with even pacing Adjusted to include faster early progress and shorter completion times
Token Access Limited to multiplayer activities Added to daily challenges across Co-Op and Endgame
Reward Timing Spread evenly across tiers Player earn rate increased; rewards arrive sooner
Progression Speed Highly time-intensive Reduced grind for a smoother experience

In addition to structural revisions, Treyarch stated that these upgrades reflect the team’s broader goal of rewarding player time. Despite the positive direction for the Battle Pass, the game’s reception has been mixed. On Metacritic, the community score sits at 1.7, the lowest among all Call of Duty entries. Critics, however, offered a more moderate review average of 69, citing the new cooperative campaign as divisive but commending multiplayer balance and performance improvements.

Released on November 14, 2025, the game carries an ESRB rating of M (Mature 17+), for intense violence, blood, strong language, suggestive content, and drug references. Black Ops 7 is jointly developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, and published by Activision.
