Blizzard teases major Overwatch 2 updates and new beta

The first Overwatch 2 beta has only just ended, but developer Blizzard has already teased some major updates, which are planned for a future event in June.

Now that the first beta is over, Blizzard has begun teasing the second beta, which will see a number of important updates.

Blog post and event

On May 17, the Overwatch 2 developers published a blog post thanking players for testing the beta and stressing that Overwatch 2 is not finished yet.

„We can't wait to use everything we learned from the beta and apply it to the game, and we look forward to showing you the changes,“ wrote game director Aaron Keller.

Jon Spector, Overwatch's Commercial Leader and VP at Blizzard, said that „important“ news will be announced at the event on June 16 and that there will still be plenty of communication between now and then, though of course a little less than during the beta period.

There is no news about the content of the second beta so far, but several new Hero's and reworks have been teased for future updates, so it is very likely that we will learn more about this in the coming weeks.

Success, but no ranked mode

Despite the lack of a plethora of new content, the Overwatch 2 beta was a moderate success for Blizzard as the beta broke Overwatch's Twitch record and returned a lot of fans to the team-based shooter.

While the change from 6v6 to 5v5 was well received and players seemed to enjoy the game, the lack of a ranked mode made some players feel like there wasn't enough to do in the beta.
