After several years away, VALORANT’s limited-time winter event mode, Snowball Fight, makes its long-awaited comeback. Originally introduced as a festive addition during the holiday season, the mode quickly gained attention for its lighthearted gameplay that contrasted with the main game’s usual competitive intensity.
Now returning after half a decade, Snowball Fight offers players a chance to revisit a beloved seasonal experience. Its reappearance brings a familiar sense of celebration and variety to VALORANT’s lineup, marking the holiday season with a blend of competition and nostalgia.
Snowball Fight returns to VALORANT
The limited-time Snowball Fight mode makes a comeback as a 5v5 team deathmatch where players race to hit 50 eliminations first. Agents enter the match without abilities, keeping the focus on skill and precision. Each competitor wields a Snowball Launcher, a projectile weapon that fires a single snowball before requiring a brief reload. Though ammo is unlimited, a direct hit inflicts 150 damage, ensuring one accurate throw can decide a duel.
Matches usually last 7–9 minutes, awarding players 750 XP per game, plus an additional 150 XP for a win. Tactically straightforward but fast-paced, the mode emphasizes map control and timing over complex utility use.
To add variety, several power-ups appear during each match:
| Power-Up | Effect |
|---|---|
| Growball | Snowballs increase in size while in flight |
| Rapid Fire | Faster firing speed with continuous shots |
| Ricochet | Snowballs rebound off the ground and walls |
| Skates | Boosted movement speed and higher jumps |
During its original 2020 run, completing a Snowball Fight match granted players the Snow Bro gun buddy. Riot Games has not confirmed whether a similar event reward will return this winter.
