Demons Souls Update October 2025

Demon’s Souls, the acclaimed remake of the 2009 PlayStation 3 classic, continues to evolve on the PlayStation 5. The game, developed by Bluepoint Games and FromSoftware, brought the challenging and atmospheric world of Boletaria to a new generation when it launched in 2020. After a long period without major updates, it has now received a new patch in October 2025, updating the title to version 1.007.000.

This update builds on recent system-level improvements introduced to the PlayStation 5 and integrates a new feature that changes how players experience the game. While not a content expansion, the patch reflects ongoing support for one of the console’s most technically impressive titles and demonstrates how older releases can adapt to newer platform capabilities.

Demon’s Souls Releases Version 1.007.000 Update

The latest Demon’s Souls patch brings the game to version 1.007.000, introducing compatibility with the Power Saver mode recently added to PlayStation 5 systems. This feature, first rolled out in September 2025, allows players to reduce energy consumption while gaming. With this update, Demon’s Souls joins a short list of titles that support the function, alongside Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei.

Players can activate the feature through the Settings → System → Power Saving menu on their consoles. Once enabled, the system automatically adjusts performance settings to conserve power. This addition aligns with Sony’s broader efforts to make the PS5 more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible.

Testing shows that enabling Power Saver mode significantly reduces the console’s energy draw. Under standard conditions, the PS5 consumes around 230 watts while running Demon’s Souls. With Power Saver turned on, power use drops to roughly 100 watts, cutting energy consumption by more than half. However, this efficiency comes with trade-offs in performance and image quality.

Mode Frame Rate Resolution Approx. Power Use
Standard 60 FPS 4K ~230W
Power Saver 30 FPS Lower Resolution ~100W

Players who prioritize smooth visuals and responsiveness may notice the reduced frame rate and resolution when using this mode. Those who prefer lower energy usage or quieter operation may find the compromise worthwhile, especially for extended play sessions.

Sony’s initiative reflects an increasing focus on sustainability across its gaming ecosystem. Some industry observers speculate that these optimizations could also influence future PlayStation hardware, possibly including a rumored handheld device designed for lower power consumption. While no official details have been confirmed, the company’s recent updates suggest a continued push toward balancing performance with environmental efficiency.
