Apeks Pauses Valorant Operations Amid Strategic Restructuring

Apeks has decided to suspend its participation in competitive VALORANT after a challenging 2025 season. The organization’s departure follows its relegation from the VCT EMEA circuit and an inability to secure spots at major international events, including the VALORANT Champions in Paris.

The decision reflects both financial adjustments and structural changes within the competitive ecosystem. Riot Games’ shift to a one-year slot system and reduced budget flexibility contributed to Apeks reassessing its position. The team expressed confidence in its ability to rebuild in the future but stated that current conditions no longer support continued investment in the scene.

Apeks Exits VALORANT After Three Competitive Seasons

Apeks entered the professional VALORANT scene in early 2023, beginning its journey in the Challengers league. The team achieved a major highlight in 2024 when it won the VCT Ascension EMEA tournament, defeating PCIFIC Esports 3–2 in the Grand Finals. That victory earned Apeks a temporary position in the VCT 2025 EMEA Kickoff event.

Despite early success, Apeks faced increasing challenges during the 2025 season. The team did not qualify for any international Majors, finishing 11th in Stage 1 and 12th in Stage 2, which ended its chances of reaching VALORANT Champions in Paris.

Season Placement Result
2024 1st (Ascension EMEA) Promoted to VCT EMEA
2025 Stage 1 11th Missed Masters Toronto
2025 Stage 2 12th Missed Champions Paris

Before pausing operations, Apeks allowed key players to seek new opportunities for the 2026 season. Among them was Ava “florescent” Eugene, who stepped away from competition to focus on personal recovery.
