Black Ops 7 To No Longer Feature Carry Forward
Activision recently confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will not include the Carry Forward system, a feature that originally promised to transfer weapons, operator skins, and cosmetic items from Black Ops 6 into the new title. The decision comes after weeks of debate within the community, sparked by the game’s reveal at Gamescom and fueled by concerns over how modern bundles and crossover cosmetics might affect the setting of the next installment.
The company had initially planned to roll out this content transfer after the first season of Black Ops 7. However, strong backlash from players who felt the feature clashed with the game’s atmosphere led to a change in direction. As a result, none of the items from Black Ops 6 will carry over into the upcoming release.
Black Ops 7 will not include Carry Forward
Activision confirmed that Black Ops 7 will not support the Carry Forward system that was originally announced. This means that none of the Operators, Operator Skins, or Weapons from Black Ops 6 will transfer into the new title. The decision marks a significant shift from earlier plans, where all content from BO6 was expected to roll over with the launch of Season 1.
The change stems from community feedback that emphasized the importance of immersion within the game’s setting. Many players argued that crossover skins such as American Dad or Beavis and Butthead clashed with the darker, more grounded tone Treyarch aims to establish in BO7. Developers responded quickly, removing the feature to maintain consistency with the narrative and atmosphere.
Although most BO6 content will not move forward, a few items remain compatible. Players will still retain:
- Zombies GobbleGums
- Double XP Tokens
Both will be available immediately when BO7 launches, ensuring at least some continuity for progression-focused players.
| Content Type | Carries Over to BO7 | Available in Warzone |
|---|---|---|
| Operators | No | Yes |
| Operator Skins | No | Yes |
| Weapons | No | Yes |
| Zombies GobbleGums | Yes | No |
| Double XP Tokens | Yes | No |
It is important to note that these restrictions apply only to Black Ops 7. Warzone will continue to feature all BO6 content, and once Season 1 integration arrives, it will include material from both BO6 and BO7. Warzone may also retain content from MWII and MWIII, though no official confirmation has been given on that point.
This approach separates the mainline release from the live-service model of Warzone, allowing BO7 to preserve its intended tone while Warzone remains a broader crossover platform.
Black Ops 7 to include „immersive“ bundles and items
Activision has confirmed that upcoming bundles in Black Ops 7 will align more closely with the series’ established tone. Instead of leaning heavily on pop culture crossovers, the focus will shift toward designs that feel consistent with the Black Ops setting. Player feedback has already influenced this approach, ensuring that in-game cosmetics feel purposeful rather than out of place.
The in-game shop and Battle Pass will still provide variety, but the offerings are expected to remain grounded. While strictly military-inspired skins will not define the entire lineup, the developers aim to avoid content that breaks immersion.
Examples of what players can expect include:
- Weapon blueprints styled to match the game’s narrative themes
- Character skins that reflect the futuristic undertones of the Black Ops world
- Bundles that balance creativity with authenticity
This direction suggests a more cohesive post-launch content strategy.
