Destiny Update 8.0.5 Patch Notes
Destiny 2 has introduced various gameplay adjustments and bug fixes with the release of Update 8.0.5. One of the most notable changes involves a nerf to The Mountaintop grenade launcher, a weapon highly valued for its unique ability to facilitate rocket jumping. This adjustment has led to widespread frustration within the community, as it significantly limits the acceleration players experience while using this technique.
Beyond changes to The Mountaintop, the update includes modifications to both PvE and PvP modes. Weekly challenges have been tweaked, and there are adjustments to Crucible map weighting. The Solstice event also begins with this update, marking a period of bug fixes and gameplay changes. Players remain cautiously optimistic that Bungie may reconsider the nerf to The Mountaintop in future updates.
Destiny 2 Update 8.0.5 Patch Notes – The Mountaintop Change
General
Weapons and Masterworks
Weapons obtained during The Pantheon raid that featured non-functional masterworks have been corrected to either a functional masterwork for the weapon type or an enhanced intrinsic if the weapon has been enhanced.
Trait Fixes
Issues were resolved where Circular Logic Machine Guns were limited to the trait Feeding Frenzy in the left column. Similarly, Gunpowder Gambit kills were not correctly activating Adrenaline Junkie, causing disruptions in the gameplay experience.
Damage Adjustments
Special ammo weapons were dealing uneven damage to frozen targets, causing imbalance. This has been rectified, and Rocket Sidearms now deal the correct amount of damage.
Weapon Roll Corrections
Older curated rolls of Riposte that previously had the Golden Tricorn trait have been adjusted to contain Desperate Measures. Enhanced versions will feature Enhanced Desperate Measures. In addition, older curated rolls of the Rose weapon mistakenly had both Outlaw and Pulse Monitor. These perks were not meant for the weapon and have been replaced with Rapid Hit and Eye of the Storm. Enhanced versions now feature Enhanced Rapid Hit and Enhanced Eye of the Storm.
Curated Roll Adjustments
The Acosmic Grenade Launcher had its Snapshot and Opening Shot traits at The Final Shape launch. It now correctly features Field Prep and Wellspring. The Blasphemer Shotgun, which inadvertently had High Caliber Rounds, has been updated to have Accurized Rounds. Similarly, the Season of the Forge-issued Nightshade that had Armor Piercing Rounds now correctly features Tactical Magazine.
Adept Weapon Updates
Some Root of Nightmares Adept weapons prematurely had Enhanced Traits. These instances have been reverted to their base traits to follow the correct enhancement sequence.
Lore Tab Corrections
Several reprise weapons had incorrect lore tabs. These have been corrected for Eye of Sol, Astral Horizon, The Summoner, Loaded Question, Sleepless, Twilight Oath, and The Messenger.
Rocket Jumping Adjustments
A speed limit has been added to the acceleration when players use rocket jumping with The Mountaintop to ensure balanced gameplay.
