Saurian Indwelling Genshin Impact

Natlan, a region brimming with diverse landscapes, introduces the dynamic Saurian Indwelling mechanic in Genshin Impact's version 5.0. This innovative feature allows players to merge their spirits with powerful Saurian creatures, offering versatile abilities to explore various terrains.

From tunneling beneath the earth to gliding through skies and navigating waterways, the Saurians provide unique skills tailored to the Pyro region's distinct environments. This mechanic significantly enhances the player's exploration capabilities, making adventure in Natlan more immersive and strategic.

What are Saurians?

Saurians are dragon-like creatures native to the Pyro region of Natlan in Genshin Impact. Over the years, they have evolved alongside the inhabitants of Natlan, making them an integral part of the region's culture and daily life.

There are three distinct Saurians featured in the game, each offering unique abilities to assist travelers. The Tepetlisaurus, resembling an armadillo with a golden horn, serves as a dependable mining companion, adept at tunneling through the ground.

Next up is the Yumkasaurus, known for its agility and speed. Favored by the Scions of the Canopy, this creature excels in swift movements, making it ideal for traversing challenging terrains quickly.

Finally, the Koholasaurus is highly regarded by the People of the Springs. This sleek, powerful swimmer is perfectly adapted for navigating the waters of Natlan, allowing for effortless and swift movement.

These Saurians not only enhance exploration but also embody the close-knit relationship between Natlan's residents and their environment, showcasing the unique and symbiotic bond they share.

Saurian Indwelling Basics

How to Connect with Saurians in Genshin Impact

To connect your spirit with a Saurian, approach the creature until a fiery icon emerges near the skills button. This signals that you can now merge your spirit with the Saurian. After merging, the game interface changes to showcase new controls: attackskill, and jump options. Jumping and attacking are free actions that don't affect your resources, but using the Saurian's special skill will consume phlogiston.

Understanding Phlogiston in Genshin Impact

Phlogiston is a crucial energy form in Natlan, powering various devices and fuelling Saurian abilities when players merge with them. The phlogiston meter appears above the HP bar, while a separate meter for each Saurian is visible next to the character during skill use.

When phlogiston is depleted, players must replenish it through various energy sources. This can be done by touching phlogiston, destroying specific objects, or gathering energy from radiant-glowing sources. Even when out of phlogiston, players can still move and indwell a Saurian, although activating special skills becomes impossible without energy.

All Saurian Abilities in Genshin Impact

Tepetlisaurus

These charming creatures often dwell in the northern areas of Natlan, especially between the Children of Echoes community and the rugged Sulfurous Veins. When a Tepetlisaurus burrows underground, it can consume phlogiston to navigate freely in multiple directions, including upward tunneling for cliff scaling.

In this underground state, a jump action triggers a rapid leap forward, providing swift movement or strategic positioning.

Yumkasaurus

The Yumkasaurus stands out due to its ability to discharge a sticky substance known as Flamegranate pectin from its cheek pouches. This adhesive allows it to grip heavy objects and sigils, pulling itself toward them with ease for effective terrain navigation.

Holding the button lets you hover and aim in the desired direction. However, repeated use of this skill requires careful phlogiston management to maximize its agile abilities.

Koholasaurus

Known for its impressive swimming capabilities, the Koholasaurus is perfect for traversing Natlan's aquatic environments. They are typically found near the Ameyalco Waters and the People of the Springs settlement. The Koholasaurus can leap above the water to dodge obstacles and uses Aqua Dash for rapid forward movement.

This Saurian also uniquely traverses liquid phlogiston after consuming it, moving effortlessly through otherwise difficult energy pools.
