What is the tournament format?
The Red Bull Home Ground 4 tournament consists of two stages – the Group stage and the Playoffs. The Group stage starts on November 3 at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo.
The Group stage follows a Swiss System with 2 Bo1 formats. The top six teams from the Group stage will advance to the Playoffs. The winner of the Group stage gets an additional advantage, as they can choose their semifinal match. This unique format allows the best team from the Group stage to choose a relatively weaker opponent and hopefully march on to the Grand Finals.
The Playoffs feature a single-elimination format where all matches are best-of-three. Only one match, the Grand Finals, is a best-of-five series.
