New CS2 Update Patch Notes: October 1st, 2025

The October 2025 update for Counter-Strike 2 introduces a wide range of gameplay improvements, new community-created cosmetics, and technical refinements across multiple systems. The patch focuses on expanding creative content in the Armory, refining spectator tools, and enhancing scripting capabilities for map creators.

Armory Updates
The Armory now includes several new collections that highlight community artistry.

  • Missing Link Charms Collection: 23 new charms designed by Workshop contributors.
  • Dr. Boom Charms Collection: 22 explosive-themed charms added to the rotation.
  • 2025 Community Stickers: 29 new stickers from community artists.
  • Sugarface 2 Stickers: 9 new designs featuring the Sugarface theme.

The update also removes older cosmetic items, including the Gallery CaseGraphic Collection, and Character Craft stickers.

Gameplay Adjustments
Several gameplay systems receive practical refinements. The scoreboard now records deaths caused by C4 detonations, improving accuracy in match statistics. In Deathmatch, the Zeus-x27 kill streak bonus has been capped to balance gameplay. Sniper scopes now display inaccuracy indicators, and a pixel offset issue affecting scopes with widths greater than one pixel has been corrected. Keychains now move slightly when players make audible footsteps, adding a subtle layer of realism.

Spectator Enhancements
Spectating tools gain smoother transitions and improved visual feedback. On supported maps, the spectator camera now follows the shortest path between players when switching views. The spectated player’s loadout automatically closes after a match ends and now shows glove wear and pattern details during viewing.

Map Rotation and Fixes
Map changes bring new community creations into the spotlight.

  • Removed: Jura, Grail, Dogtown, and Brewery are no longer available in any mode.
  • Added:
    • Palacio and Golden join Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch playlists.
    • Rooftop and Transit are now available in Wingman mode.

Additional clipping adjustments were made to Ancient and Shoots to improve player movement and collision accuracy.

Miscellaneous Improvements
Minor visual updates affect the MAC-10 and R8 Revolver skins. A crash related to missing bullet impact effects has been resolved. Workshop Tools in Hammer now include lattice and simple bend deformers, and example content in train_zoo has been re-enabled to demonstrate these features.

Map Scripting Updates
Scripting receives a large expansion with new functions and improved performance. Error handling now throws exceptions for invalid method calls and logs unsupported arguments. Color values are clamped to a maximum of 255.

Category New or Updated Functions
Debug Tools DebugScreenText, DebugLine, DebugBox, DebugSphere
Entity Controls GetOwner, SetOwner, GetParent, SetParent, IsAlive, IsWorld, TakeDamage
Player Events OnPlayerReset, OnPlayerDamage, OnGunReload, OnGrenadeBounce, OnKnifeAttack
Tracing TraceLine, TraceSphere, TraceBox, TraceBullet

Deprecated functions such as OnReload and GetTraceHit have been replaced with more flexible alternatives. These scripting improvements aim to streamline custom content creation and enhance performance across Workshop maps.
