League of Legends Season 2 in 2026 introduces major updates to Arena, with a focus on how you build and adjust your power during a match. You can now level up your Augments and even swap them out, giving you more control over your strategy as rounds progress.
These changes arrive alongside a wave of new Augments and the addition of Arena Events that reshape how matches unfold. You gain more flexibility, more variety, and more ways to adapt to each lobby.
Augment Progression and Swap Options
Certain Augments now scale through levels. After you select two Augments that support leveling, future selection screens can offer an upgrade to one of them instead of presenting a completely new choice.
Because upgrading replaces the chance to add a different Augment, Arena now provides more Augment offers during a run. Even with these extra opportunities, you can usually hold no more than four Augments at once.
Once you reach that four-Augment limit, selection screens expand your options:
- Upgrade an existing levelable Augment
- Replace one of your current Augments with a new one
A new Crafting Round on Round 8 further adjusts your build path. During this phase, you can:
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Gain a slot | Add a fifth Augment |
| Sacrifice a slot | Strengthen an existing Augment |
These systems let you refine your setup mid-match, shift strategies, and remove choices that no longer support your plan.
New Augments
Season 2 Act I expands Arena with more than 30 additional Augments. You will see a mix of brand-new designs and several adapted from ARAM: Mayhem, all built to interact with the new Augment Level system.
Developers focused on mechanics that scale cleanly with leveling while still offering distinct effects the moment you pick them. Some reward early commitment, while others reshape your build path mid-run.
Below are several examples that show how these additions function.
| Augment | Core Effect | Strategic Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Transmute: Silver | Instantly fills all empty Augment slots with Silver-tier choices | Lets you stack multiple Augments early so you can start upgrading them before other teams complete their builds |
| Wild Fire | Automatically launches a bouncing fireball at nearby enemies | Scales with extra bounces per level, eventually removing the bounce limit at max rank |
| Scavenger | Grants one Augment from each defeated opponent | Replaces future Augment offerings with level-up options only |
| Magical Girl | Spawns a falling star each round that triggers knockback and a transformation | After activation, you gain power while stars fall onto enemies |
Transmute: Silver works best if you take it in the opening round. You immediately populate your loadout with Silver Augments, which gives you multiple targets to enhance through leveling instead of waiting for later offerings.
Wild Fire combines automatic casting with burn-style damage. As you upgrade it, the projectile chains across more champions, and at maximum level it no longer stops bouncing, increasing pressure in grouped fights.
Scavenger shifts your progression model. When you eliminate an enemy, you claim one of their Augments, but you give up future variety and instead focus entirely on strengthening what you already hold.
Magical Girl introduces a recurring objective during combat. Catch the falling star to trigger crowd control and a temporary power spike, then force opponents to reposition as additional stars descend.
These Augments arrive with patch 26.09 at the start of the 2026 Season 2 cycle.
New Battlefields in Arena
Season 2 adds Petricite Grove, a fresh Arena map that changes how you position and trade. You fight around scattered explosive charges that roll forward when struck and detonate after a short delay.
If you apply crowd control that immobilizes, the bomb explodes on contact. You can use this to zone enemies, force movement, or secure quick burst damage.
Ancestral Woods also receives gameplay updates, adjusting how you navigate and take fights.
