The Esports World Cup 2026 will elevate Counter-Strike 2 competition to new heights with its largest tournament to date. Scheduled from August 12 to 23 in Riyadh, the event will feature 32 teams competing entirely on LAN for a total prize pool of $2 million. This marks a significant expansion from previous years, both in scale and competitive intensity.
Open qualifiers will provide additional opportunities for teams to secure one of four remaining spots in the main event. Hosted at the Esports Boulevard in Riyadh, these qualifiers will also include a $100,000 prize pool, reinforcing the tournament’s commitment to global participation and competitive fairness.
Invites and Qualification
Tournament Structure
A total of 32 teams will compete in the opening phase. The Global VRS Rankings, released in June 2026, will determine 27 direct invitations. These include:
- 21 teams from the overall global standings
- 1 team crowned champion of the Asian Champions League 2026
- 2 teams from North America not already in the top 21
- 2 teams from South America outside the global top 21
- 2 teams from Asia not in the top 21
- 4 teams advancing through the Open Qualifier
Stage One features four groups of eight teams each, using a double-elimination format. Opening matches are best-of-one, while subsequent rounds move to best-of-three series.
Stage Two transitions to a 16-team single-elimination bracket, concluding with a best-of-five Grand Final.
