You can form a squad regardless of where you play. The game does not limit matchmaking by platform at launch.
This approach matches current multiplayer standards, where shared matchmaking across systems has become common. If you play on console and your friend uses PC, you can still join the same party and enter matches together.
Bungie also supports cross-save, so your progress carries between platforms if you switch devices.
Does Marathon Include Shared Progress Across Platforms?
Marathon supports full cross-progression at launch. Your progress ties to a single game account, not to a specific device. When you sign in on another supported platform, you access the same profile, inventory, and unlocks.
Cross-progression differs from cross-play. Cross-play lets you match with players on other systems, while cross-progression ensures your saved data follows you wherever you log in.
