CS2 Halo Mod: Bringing Sci-Fi Combat to Counter-Strike 2

Few players would expect Counter-Strike 2 and Halo to share common ground beyond their long histories in the first-person shooter genre. Yet a new mod seeks to connect these two iconic series. Built within Valve’s Source 2 engine, Project Misriah reimagines Halo’s gameplay and design inside the framework of CS2, combining familiar elements from both games in one cohesive experience.

Created by modder Froddoyo, the project integrates Halo-inspired maps, weapons, and character models while refining combat to reflect Halo’s pacing and balance. Features like regenerating health, adjusted damage values, and the recognizable multiplayer announcer bring the spirit of Halo into a tactical environment, offering a polished example of how modding can bridge distinct gaming worlds.

New CS2 Halo mod brings Bungie’s franchise to Counter-Strike

A modder known as Froddoyo has released Project Misriah, an ambitious community project that integrates content inspired by Halo 3 into Counter-Strike 2. The addition merges Halo’s sci-fi multiplayer feel with CS2’s tactical structure, showcasing how far the Source 2 engine can stretch when in the hands of dedicated creators.

The mod includes a small but growing collection of maps rebuilt with Halo’s art style and combat flow. At launch, players can explore Ghost TownHigh GroundHomefront, and Sento, all adapted to support CS2’s ruleset. Ghost Town and High Ground aim to replicate the atmosphere and geometry of their Halo 3 counterparts, offering the closest experience to Bungie’s original arenas. Homefront and Sento, meanwhile, provide custom layouts influenced by ODST’s cityscapes and new design ideas.

Additional classic maps—The PitValhallaNarrowsGuardian, and Last Resort—are listed for release within two weeks. These planned updates intend to round out a full Halo 3-inspired rotation, bringing more tactical diversity to the Workshop collection. The decision to stagger releases helps players get familiar with each environment before the next joins the lineup.

Weapons in Project Misriah mix Halo-themed models with Counter-Strike’s existing systems. Since Valve restricts custom animations in CS2, firearms currently rely on default movement sets. This limitation creates some odd combinations, such as Halo assault rifles behaving like CS2 rifles, but it remains a technical compromise rather than a design flaw. Froddoyo and collaborators treat it as a work-in-progress that demonstrates the modding potential of Source 2 rather than a final gameplay package.

The mod’s availability through the Steam Workshop keeps installation straightforward. Players can subscribe to the collection, allow the assets to download, and jump directly into matches. While solo play with bots is an option, the project’s multiplayer nature thrives best with coordinated groups.
