Overwatch Responds to Anniversary Event More Skins

You can expect changes to the Overwatch 10th Anniversary event after Blizzard responded to player feedback. Game director Aaron Keller confirmed adjustments that affect upcoming weeks of the celebration.

In Weeks 2 and 3, you will see a significant increase in community loot boxes, with rewards doubling and then tripling. The team has also lowered the number of matches required for event challenges, and you can earn up to 10 Legendary skins during the event.

Aaron Keller addresses backlash over the 2026 anniversary event

You saw the 10th Anniversary event begin on May 12, and many players quickly criticized the rewards. Complaints focused on the limited free currency, including Mythic Prisms and Overwatch Coins, along with the shortage of free legendary skins.

Aaron Keller responded publicly on May 15 after reviewing player reactions. He stated that the feedback was justified and acknowledged that a decade of Overwatch represents a major milestone for the game and its community.

Keller explained that you should view the current event as a single part of a broader celebration. While this in-game event runs for a limited time, the team plans to extend anniversary-themed content and rewards throughout the year.

He emphasized three key points:

  • The team has actively monitored community reactions.
  • Player concerns about rewards are valid.
  • More anniversary content will arrive beyond this initial event.

You can expect additional updates in the coming months. Keller confirmed that the studio will share more details about upcoming plans later, signaling that the celebration will continue beyond the current reward structure.

His message aimed to reset expectations and clarify direction rather than defend the launch setup.
