PUBG Battlegrounds Prop Hunt

You have seen PUBG: Battlegrounds evolve steadily since its 2017 debut, when it helped define the modern battle royale format. With more than 75 million copies sold, the game built its reputation on a simple formula: drop into a hostile map, gather gear, and outlast every other player.

Now you can experience a different pace as the developers introduce the long-requested Prop Hunt mode for a limited time. Even as strong competitors like Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone crowd the genre, PUBG continues to expand its offerings through updates, crossovers, and experimental modes that keep the experience fresh.

Prop Hunt Mode is Finally Here in PUBG

You can now jump into Prop Hunt in PUBG: Battlegrounds for a limited time from March 31 to April 7. This event transforms the usual survival formula into a structured game of hide-and-seek inside the Arcade playlist. Each match places 12 players into clearly defined roles with different objectives.

At the start of every round, you choose whether to play as a Hunter or a Prop. Matches assign 9 players as Props and 3 as Hunters, creating an immediate imbalance that drives the mode’s tension. Your role shapes how you approach the entire round.

Match Structure at a Glance

Element Details
Total Players 12
Props 9
Hunters 3
Mode Type Limited-time Arcade event
Available Maps Miramar, Rondo, Vikendi
Event Dates March 31 – April 7

Each round begins with a short preparation phase. If you play as a Prop, you spawn with a temporary movement boost that helps you reposition and select a hiding spot before the action starts. During this time, Hunters remain confined to a restricted area with limited visibility.

Once the round officially begins, Hunters spread out and search for disguised players. You must rely on observation and map knowledge rather than standard gunplay instincts.

Firing blindly carries a penalty.
If you shoot objects that are not actual Props, you lose health.

That rule forces Hunters to think carefully before pulling the trigger. It also gives Props room to outplay careless opponents.

Tools Available to Props

As a Prop, you do more than stand still and hope for the best. You gain access to special abilities designed to disrupt Hunters and extend your survival.

  • Stun Gun – Temporarily disables or disrupts pursuing Hunters
  • Decoy – Creates distractions to draw attention away from your real position
  • Prop Swap – Allows you to change into a different object mid-round
  • Additional utility skills that enhance mobility and deception

These abilities create active mind games rather than passive hiding. You must time your skills carefully and react to Hunter movements.

Near the end of each round, the match shifts into Fever Time. Hunters receive extra weapons and lose the health penalty for incorrect shots. This phase speeds up eliminations and prevents rounds from stalling.

If you survive until the timer expires, you win as a Prop. If you eliminate all Props before time runs out, you win as a Hunter.

The mode rotates across several established maps, including Miramar, Rondo, and Vikendi. Each location changes how you approach hiding or hunting due to environmental clutter and object density. Urban areas offer more disguise options, while open terrain limits safe hiding spots.

Community reaction has been largely positive. Many players on social platforms have welcomed the lighter, tactical variation on PUBG’s usual high-stakes formula. Some returning players have logged back in specifically to try the event.

At the same time, a portion of the community wants the mode to remain permanently available rather than disappear after one week. The limited window increases urgency, but it also restricts long-term engagement.

This update arrives during a mixed period for the broader franchise. While the core battle royale continues to receive new content and experimental modes, one of its spin-offs, PUBG: Blindspot, recently shut down after struggling to maintain an audience. That closure has prompted discussion about the future of other projects connected to the brand.

Despite that uncertainty, Prop Hunt shows a clear effort to diversify gameplay within the main title. Instead of focusing on large-scale firefights with up to 100 players, this mode centers on smaller lobbies, tighter pacing, and ability-driven strategy.

You approach each round differently than standard battle royale. You rely less on loot and long-range combat, and more on positioning, timing, and deception.

For a limited time, survival in PUBG depends less on firepower and more on how well you blend in with the environment around you.
