Lotus Patch Notes 12.05: Key Updates and Balance Changes

You will see Lotus return to the competitive map pool in VALORANT Patch 12.05, bringing targeted adjustments that focus heavily on the A site. The update reintroduces both Lotus and Fracture to ranked play, giving you a refreshed rotation to adapt your strategies around.

As Lotus replaces Abyss and Corrode in competitive queues, you can expect shifts in map preparation and team compositions. The patch also includes updates to the Premier stage, which may affect how you and your team plan your competitive run this season.

Lotus A site updates

Riot focused every Lotus change in Patch 12.05 on A. You will notice adjustments that limit early-round wall spam while still allowing calculated pressure through surfaces.

The update shifts the jump-up toward Vines, which gives you a stronger chance to contest Rubble instead of conceding space immediately. You can now fight for control with more structure behind you rather than relying on raw aim at barrier drop.

Attacking spawn approach

You now get thicker cover in the attacking starting area on A. The reinforced terrain blocks early wall penetration, which protects you from immediate Odin or Guardian shots as the round begins.

That added durability reduces the risk of losing a teammate before utility even lands. You can hold position, coordinate, and decide how to scale instead of reacting to blind spam.

Rock formations near the main entrance have also shifted. You gain slightly more room to maneuver, along with fresh micro-angles that let you pause, regroup, or pressure defenders inch by inch.

Mobile defenders can no longer crowd the choke as easily without risk. You can clear space with more intention and less exposure.

A main corridor adjustments

The exterior wall near the Tree side door now resists bullet penetration. Defenders can no longer sit deep and spray through the surface to deny orb control or early presence.

This forces more direct engagements. If you challenge for the orb or attempt to open the door, you deal with visible threats rather than unseen spam.

You can structure your default more confidently. Utility usage becomes more meaningful because defenders must peek or reposition instead of holding mouse one through a wall.

A bombsite refinements

Defenders gain additional playable space around the stair area. That extra depth lets them fall back, retake angles, or set up off-angles that punish careless swings.

You must clear deeper corners before committing to a plant. The new positioning options reward disciplined site takes.

Plant zones have also tightened. You can no longer rely on broad A Main plants, as the viable area shifts toward back site and the right side.

Post-plant setups now favor Tree control. If you secure that space, you create stronger crossfires and clearer win conditions.

Competitive Map Changes and Premier Timeline

Act II updates the active pool in both Competitive and Deathmatch. You will play on Lotus and Fracture, while Abyss and Corrode leave the rotation.

  • Added: Lotus, Fracture
  • Removed: Abyss, Corrode

Premier begins March 18 and runs for six weeks, one week shorter than usual. If your team earns at least a 500 Premier score, you secure a spot in the April 26 Playoffs.

In Contender and Invite, advancement still depends on your placement in the standings rather than total points. Check your rank regularly to confirm your position.

You may notice your Awards Hub temporarily shows no unlocked rewards. A fix arrives with patch 12.06.
