Grand Theft Auto Online GTA 5 New Update

Rockstar Games has launched the latest major expansion to Grand Theft Auto Online, titled A Safehouse in the Hills. Available across all current and previous console generations as well as PC, the update introduces a range of new activities and items, including additional missions, vehicles, and purchasable luxury mansions. It also marks the return of Michael De Santa, a familiar face from the single‑player story of Grand Theft Auto V.

Since its debut in 2013, Grand Theft Auto Online has remained one of the most active and financially successful online multiplayer games. Its continued popularity stems from Rockstar’s consistent release of free content updates that keep the experience evolving. With A Safehouse in the Hills, the game continues that pattern, offering players a fresh opportunity to expand their in‑game lifestyle and revisit one of the franchise’s most recognizable characters.

Grand Theft Auto Online Releases Big Mansions Update

Rockstar Games has rolled out a significant update for Grand Theft Auto Online titled A Safehouse in the Hills, expanding the game’s luxury living options and gameplay features. The update launched on December 10, 2025, and is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It offers new ways for players to spend their in-game wealth while introducing a major story connection that long-time fans have anticipated.

Players can now purchase one of three newly added mansion properties through the in-game Prix Luxury Real Estate system. Each property supports a range of customization options affecting both aesthetics and cost. The starting prices for these estates are summarized below:

Mansion Tier Base Price (GTA$) Customizable Features
Luxury Villa 11,500,000 Interior décor, lighting, exterior color
Hillview Estate 12,200,000 Architectural upgrades, pools, garages
Vinewood Mansion 12,800,000 Landscape design, art displays, security systems

Each mansion acts as a fully-featured safehouse and social hub. Players can manage businesses, access new missions, and invite others for multiplayer gatherings. The update marks the first time that large-scale private estates have been part of GTA Online’s property lineup.

The update also sees the return of Michael De Santa, one of the main protagonists from Grand Theft Auto V. His reappearance forms part of new story-driven content that merges narrative elements from the single-player game into the online environment. This addition completes the trio of characters from GTA V, following previous appearances by Franklin and Trevor in earlier updates.

Beyond property expansion, Rockstar introduced several new vehicles, including the Vapid FMJ MK V. This high-performance supercar is temporarily exclusive to GTA+ subscribers during the first release week, after which all players can purchase it. Additional vehicles will roll out over time, extending the update’s appeal for collectors and racers alike.

The release further enhances gameplay creation through the launch of a Mission Creator tool. Accessible on all supported platforms, this feature allows players to build custom missions, adjust objectives, and include selectable NPCs or environmental elements. The editor provides players with control over settings and structure, supporting deeper community involvement in mission design.

Many view A Safehouse in the Hills as a milestone update, potentially the last major addition before the arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is now expected in November 2026. With years of anticipation around mansions and player-made missions, Rockstar’s newest DLC gives long-time players robust creative tools and long-requested luxury options within the enduring world of Grand Theft Auto Online.
