Instead of discarding less preferred items, the game's transmog system offers a creative solution.

The transmog system in Assassin's Creed Shadows provides players with the flexibility to change the appearance of their gear while maintaining their preferred stats. This means characters like Naoe or Yasuke can be dressed in a variety of styles drawn from previously acquired items, all while keeping their most effective equipment. Unlocking the Gear Appearance Swap Feature in Assassin's Creed Shadows

At the beginning of your journey in Assassin's Creed Shadows, the option to modify your gear's appearance is not available. Initially, players can only manage their inventory by selling unneeded items or storing them in the Hideout. Katanas, headgear, and armor initially lack appearance customization options.

The turning point occurs with the construction of the Forge in your Hideout. This is achieved through the „Way of the Blacksmith“ mission. Players unlock this mission shortly after establishing their Hideout. The key task involves locating the blacksmith in Sakai. After this, players must return and establish the Forge for the blacksmith in their Hideout.

Once these steps are complete, the transmog feature for gear becomes accessible to Naoe, the character. This enables players to change the look of any gear piece they have equipped to resemble another piece they have previously acquired. Here's how players can accomplish this:

1. Access the inventory screen.
2. Navigate to the section for the piece of gear you wish to alter.
3. Hover over the equipped item.
4. Actuate the „Visualize“ button displayed at the screen's bottom.

This provides the means to modify the appearance. Importantly, the transformation options are not limited to items currently held in the inventory. As long as the gear has been acquired at some point, its appearance can still be used, even if sold or stored elsewhere.

When the desired appearance is located, selecting it will instantly update the character's look. This comprehensive appearance change capability extends to weapons, headwear, armor, and even horses. As players discover new items, these are automatically added to the selection pool for their corresponding gear category.
